Buchart-Horn, Inc. received the Outstanding Highway Engineering Award from the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE), Pittsburgh Section for the firm's design of a bridge replacement on State Route 19 where it crosses State Route 910 in Pine Township northwest of Pittsburgh.

The award was presented at the ASHE Annual Past President's Banquet on October 25th.

Buchart-Horn designed a 146-foot steel girder replacement span and phased the project into two construction periods to minimize local traffic disruptions and wrap the project around a winter shutdown period. Phasing permitted Route 19 to remain open throughout the project with the roadway closed during only one non-holiday weekend.

The project was designed for PennDOT's Engineering District 11 and PennDOT received positive public comments on the project from local individuals and business owners near the bridge.
