Project Engineer/Manager

Description of Duties:

Professional Engineer/project manager in charge of a broad range of projects including:

  • Site investigations, project scoping, report generation and surveying.
  • Evaluation of design alternatives.
  • Site development design - site grading and lot layout within Zoning requirements.
  • Highway and roadway design.
  • Bridge design.
  • Buildings and facilities or other type of infrastructure structural design.
  • Perform hydrologic/hydraulic analyses, drainage and stormwater improvements modeling and design.
  • Water distribution & wastewater collection and treatment design.
  • Water & wastewater pumping station design and upgrades, infiltration/inflow studies, capacity studies and system upgrades.
  • Perform design calculations and equipment sizing.
  • Prepare design plans/specifications and secure permits from regulatory agencies.
  • Aid in construction administration.
  • Construction cost estimating.
  • Project cost tracking, cost forecasting and reporting.
  • Some travel required.

Requirements:

Candidate(s) with the best combination of education, experience and certifications in the following:
  • Team player, with good interpersonal skills and strong work ethic.
  • Willing to work with other offices and professionals.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • BS and/or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  • 4 years related experience, minimum.
  • Local State PE license (required within 12 months of eligibility and/or hiring date).
  • Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD.
  • MicroStation, Geopak.
  • Stormwater master planning and modeling software (AdlCPR is a plus).
  • Some travel required.

Land Development Engineer

Description of Duties:

Buchart-Horn, Inc. has immediate openings for positions in Land Development Engineering in our Hershey office. Position involves all aspects of Land Development Engineering and requires meeting with Municipal, County and Pennsylvania regulatory agencies, engineers, planning commissions and municipal supervisors.

Requirements:

Applicants must have minimum of 3 years experience and knowledge in site grading and lot layout to meet SLDO and Zoning requirements in Derry Township and surrounding areas. Knowledge of Civil CADD or AutoCAD and excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Stormwater Management and E&S Control planning, HOPA planning, DEP and USACOE permitting preferred. Bidding/Managing engineering projects, MS4 compliance, flexible pavement design, technical writing and floodplain delineation a plus.

Civil/Highway Engineer - Hydraulic Engineer

Description of Duties:

  • Provide drainage design and stormwater management plan development for highway projects
  • Perform hydrologic/ hydraulic analyses for bridge design/analysis projects.
  • Provide support to the Project Engineer on highway/bridge projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering Discipline
  • Engineer-in-Training or Professional Engineer a plus
  • 3+ years of experience in Transportation Projects
  • Solid working knowledge of the following software: HEC2 and HECRAS water surface profiles; HEC-HMS hydraulic modeling system; HY-8 culvert analysis; Hydraulic Engineering Circular No. 22 urban drainage design, etc.
  • Experience on PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike projects a plus
