Honors Buchart-Horn for
Bridge Design Excellence
Construction of this $17.8-million bridge on US 19 over the Monongahela River began in March 2001 and is scheduled for completion in September 2003. The new five-lane structure will replace an existing two-lane bridge, which has become a bottleneck for area traffic. The final design for the new bridge was completed in less than ten months. Staged construction allows for maintenance of traffic on US 19 at all times.
The Division of Highways presented the honors in the Large Bridge Category for the firm's design of the Star City Bridge near Morgantown, West Virginia. Joe Deneault, P.E., of the Division of Highways presented the award to Buchart-Horn during the West Virginia Association of Consulting Engineers banquet in Charleston, WV.
