Bridge CADD Designer

Description of Duties:

Experienced CADD Designer to assist the Project Engineer and/or Project Manager with the following tasks:

  • Development and layout of Bridge Structure Plans.
  • Layout and detailing of design elements associated with bridge plans (e.g. Girder layout/details, reinforcing bar schedule including layout and dimensioning, etc.)
  • Simple engineering calculations including geometry and quantities.

Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of plan development and structural detailing of bridges and highway related structures.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills and strong work ethic.

Description of Duties:

Professional Engineer/project manager in charge of a broad range of projects including:

  • Site investigations, project scoping, report generation and surveying.
  • Evaluation of design alternatives.
  • Site development design - site grading and lot layout within Zoning requirements.
  • Highway and roadway design.
  • Bridge design.
  • Buildings and facilities or other type of infrastructure structural design.
  • Perform hydrologic/hydraulic analyses, drainage and stormwater improvements modeling and design.
  • Water distribution & wastewater collection and treatment design.
  • Water & wastewater pumping station design and upgrades, infiltration/inflow studies, capacity studies and system upgrades.
  • Perform design calculations and equipment sizing.
  • Prepare design plans/specifications and secure permits from regulatory agencies.
  • Aid in construction administration.
  • Construction cost estimating.
  • Project cost tracking, cost forecasting and reporting.
  • Some travel required.

Requirements:

Transportation Construction Inspectors - Materials

Description of Duties:

The Transportation Construction Inspector - Materials performs and is responsible for the independent technical work of testing and control of construction materials in bituminous plants, portland cement concrete plants, and aggregate sources. The individual must be knowledgeable of construction materials (aggregate, concrete, asphalt), materials sampling and testing procedures (AASHTO, ASTM, ACI) and PennDot documentation procedures. They will be responsible for interpreting contract requirements and quality control plans to ensure that Department Standards and Specifications are being met during the production, transportation and placement of bituminous concrete, portland cement concrete and quarry products.

Requirements:

Prior experience as a PennDot Intern, materials laboratory technician or past experience with PennDot preferred, but not required. NICET certification and/or Associate's Degree in related field is required as well as a valid driver's license and dependable means of transportation.

Transportation Construction Manager

Description of Duties:

Buchart-Horn, Inc. has a position available for a Transportation Construction Manager on a Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation -- Engineering District 8-0 project. This is a large multi-year project on SR 0015 in the Dillsburg, PA area.

The Transportation Construction Manager (TCM) will direct the overall inspection of materials and workmanship of the project. They will be responsible for interpretation of contract requirements & the application of a variety of testing and inspection techniques. The TCM is responsible for the planning and organizing of work, and assigning work of subordinates. They will oversee a field staff of approximately 7 construction inspectors and must have a thorough working knowledge of the Department's Project Office Manual, i.e., documentation & checking procedures of FID entries & I-Book entries, preparing contractor progress payments, preparing work orders, and M&P of traffic.

Requirements:

The qualified candidate must meet any one of the following combinations of educational/experience requirements: an AS-CET with 7 years highway experience, a BS in CE or CET with 5 years highway experience, a PA certified EIT with 4 years highway experience, PA registered PE with 3 years highway experience, NICET Level IV - transportation engineering technology - subfield highway construction or 5 years experience as a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor.
